JOHOR BARU - A woman sent a picture of her home engulfed in smoke to her former husband minutes before she was found dead in her home in Kempas.
Lee Mei Siew, 34, sent the image via WhatsApp, which showed a store inside the house covered in smoke at 8pm on Sunday.
Johor Baru (North) OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Khamsani Abdul Rahman said the man got worried about his former wife and rushed to her home but found the house locked.
"So he went to her friend's house nearby to get the house keys and rushed back to the scene," he said.
ACP Mohd Khamsani said the man saw the place was covered in smoke and made his way to the store where Lee, a real estate agent, was found unconscious.
He added that the man called a private ambulance service and the paramedics arrived minutes later and confirmed that Lee had already died.
ACP Mohd Khamsani said the body was later sent to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital for a post-mortem and the case was classified as sudden death.
